Not Feelin’ It

Just wasn’t in the mood for the gym today. I think it’s because I did a considerable amount of bending prior. Kinda got my shoulder sore.

circuit:
hang clean
front squat
press
back squat
back press

done for five reps with the bar and for 3X3 with 95

Hang Clean 5X5 95
Pushpress
3 135
1 185 (more of a jerk)
3 155
1 185 (a press this time)

Hammer curls circuit with hammer tricep ext.
3 X 8 30 (way too easy)

Finger curls
2 X 15 135

Rope Tricep pushdown
40lbs (just killing time)

so like I said, I just wasn’t in the mood. It’s taken me all week to recover from Mondays workout. I think the next time I will do good mornings much lighter. Also, today I was surprised how difficult the pushpress was for me. I have neglected my pressing movements, it is showing. I have to get those back into the show. Finally, once again I need to get some curls type action going on with my 2″ dumbells. I have been playing with my brand new 10K sledge. I haven’t tried to lever it yet, just getting it held out to a fully extended arm and balanced is a challenge in itself.

Over Did It A Bit

So I think I over did it bit yesterday. I’m not sure it was the volume, intensity or any particular exercise. I just think it was that I went for two weeks with really only one workout then jumped back in at full throttle. I have been sore all day. First, I thought it was just my lower back, later my hammies reminded me that they saw action too. Eventually I was just gased.
I tried to workout anyway, came away a little wobbly and light headed.

I tried to keep rest short, I don’t wear a watch when I lift but I’m sure it was under a minute closer to 30 secs
Pull up (-X indicates how much offsetting weight I was using)
shoulde width Hammer hand position
3 -100 warmup

wide overhand position
2X6 -100 warmup
2X6 -80

shoulder width overhand

shoulder width hammer

Dumbell military press

Dumbell row
6X6 55 – way too light. I took no breaks at all. I did one side then the other, then back again.

Bench

135 wideX8 midX8 held the bar for a bit in between rep 6 and 7 of the last set.

Curl/tricep extension
40 lb barbell 12 reps of curl then 12 of overhead ext. Rest and repeat, three sets

I left with nothing left in me. I should kettlebell, I’m gonna do a couple snatchs to loosen the back but not much more. I’m supposed to do a high rep squat/deadlift workout tomorrow. I don’t think that is gonna happen but we will see. I’m thinking about doing a sprint workout saturday depending on the weather. I haven’ decided on that yet either.

Oh yeah and my new hammer is coming tomorrow. I have already decided I will need a n intermediate hammer. It’ll be a couple months on that one. wait and enjoy.

side note, I am stuck on a computer all day and I’m a bit of a music freak. My brother in law pointed me toward a free, legit music website. Pandora. I don’t recommend sitting at a compy all day or listening to pop music all day but if you have to try it.

The good mornings were not particularly heavy for me, in fact, they made my back feel really good but I am feeling them now. I had considered doing kettlebell but I think I’ll save that for tomorrow. Also my triceps are surprisingly sore from the ab wheel. I have been neglecting my arms entirly too long. I’ll try to work in a couple exercises tomorrow. I need to get the armsd thing going on the dumbells, that’s part of why I got them.
This program is essentially the program I discussed with Doc and others. It’s based on what Iwas doing at the end of my run of trying to powerlift. I’m openning with a day of heavy deadlift oriented work. I will follow with a higher rep press/upper body, then high rep lower body type stuff and polish it off with a predicatble low rep.high weigh upper body routine. We shall see how it goes. I am planning to take this through mid May.
