I got back in the gym today. In the spirit of trying something different I attempted 20 consecutive squats with 60% or my max. I managed about 12 before I wussed out. Next time I’ll push harder for the 20. So I did three sets of 12. Then I did two sets of twenty on straight legged deadlift. After that my back was screaming so loud I didn’t want to do anything more. I kinda wondered around a bit. Then went and screwed around on some of the machines. I almost never use machines so it was an education for me. I think I’ll stick to free weights. Overall it was actually a pretty good workout and I’m glad I tried it. I will try similar things in the future.
Other good news: I actually did pilates this morning. It felt good and was a nice way to wake up. I will try to repeat tomorrow. It showed me that I am stronger in some areas than expected and weaker in others. What more can you ask of a new type of training. Second, I got a big cooler today. I had one of those little lunch bags that hold like a sandwich but The Wife went to Target while I was at work and got me this sweet OD Green, Eddie Bauer Beast of a lunch bag. Children will run from me when I come swing this bastard by the shoulder strap. I may have to get a hip belt and a frame for the bastard. It has cool metal clips and stuff.
So, the reason we all meet at this little therapy session I call A Blog:
Grip
This was a little jacked, partially do to the workout mentioned above. I didn’t do crush. I barely did wrist.
wrist curl 45lbs 3X45
reverse wrist curl 45lbs 2X45
On a side not I have been playing with my grippers almost everyday for about a week now. I can crush my #1 pretty consistently and am looking forward to a #2 in my near future. Also, I need to file my T and maybe #1. I’m thinking about an order to Ironmind for a new T, #1, #2 and the sandbag kit. Also, I have been using my “Expand your hands bands” at work. usually the yellow for sets on twenty on each hand, back and forth. I need to start workin in the next higher band.
So that’s it for now.
